The Prophet (saw) said, ‘Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha‘ban is my month and Ramadan is the month of my Ummah’. [Suyuti]
As we begin this blessed month of Rajab, let us reflect on the immense opportunity it provides to draw closer to Allah (SWT) and reap countless rewards. This is the time to focus our hearts and actions on what will benefit us most in this world and the Hereafter.
1. Make Lots of Istighfar (Seeking Forgiveness):
The Prophet ﷺ said: “O people, repent to Allah, for truly I repent to Allah every day and night seventy (or one hundred) times.” [Muslim]
Additionally, it is narrated: ‘Seek much forgiveness from Allah in Rajab because in every hour (of the month), Allah frees people from the Fire.’ [Dailami]
2. Give in Charity:
The Prophet ﷺ reminded us, ‘Charity extinguishes sins just as water extinguishes fire.’ [Ibn Majah]
Spend in the way of Allah during this sacred month to purify your soul and increase your blessings.
3. Fast During This Month:
It is narrated that when a Follower asked one of the Companions if the Prophet ﷺ fasted in Rajab, they replied: “Yes, and he would ennoble it.” The Prophet ﷺ honored this month through fasting, setting an example for us to follow.
